Note:
We took a small fridge on the Op so that cold goffers (soft drink) could
be enjoyed by unit members. It also help bring the engineers
with their equipment to dig weapons pits, other holes etc. One of
the COMMCEN 10KVA generators stopped working and we had to request a
replacement be flown in. It was unfortunate that the Brigadier
located our fridge at about the same time. The Helichopter that
delivered the 10KVA also took the fridge back to Nui Dat.
It was relocated to the Brig's tent
and served him well from that day on!

Lion. ACV housed 104 Sig Sqn communications equipment for the
first time. Lesson from the Battle of
Coral. Photo supplied by Denis Hare. [1968]
Note:
John (Suitcase) Koosache can remember sitting in the ACV on the code box
with a red grenade in his hand with the instructions 'if
this thing hits a mine or is .... attacked, pull the pin and get out the
best way you can'. Obviously Suitcase
did not have to blow the codes and this was his last job outside the
wire. |
